Julien Alfred, Rai Benjamin and Noah Lyles triumphed in the sprint events in Boston

Paris 2024 Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred won the 300m in a new Saint Lucia record of 36.16 sec at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold Label’s in Boston New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. Her training partner Dina Asher-Smith took second place in the event in 36.87 sec.

In the men’s 300m event of the Boston New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Olympic 400m champion Rai Benjamin won the gold with 32.21 sec. The silver went to Vernon Norwood with 32.39 sec.

The long-awaited 60m clash between the last two Olympic 100m champions Noah Lyles and Lamont Marcell Jacobs took place, but Terrence Jones was the athlete to watch out for. After winning his heat in 6.55 sec, Noah Lyles was also fastest in the final in 6.52 sec. Terrence Jones finished second in 6.57 sec, Pjai Austin was third in 6.60 sec, and Lamont Marcell Jacobs was fourth in 6.63 sec.

Grant Holloway continued his dominance in the 60m hurdles, winning the final in 7.42 sec. He has not lost in the indoor event for 11 years.

In the women’s 60m hurdles, Olympic champion Masai Russell won in 7.80 sec, followed by Olympic finalist Grace Stark in 7.81 sec and world champion and indoor world record holder Devynne Charlton in 7.85 sec.

In the women’s 60m sprint, Jacious Sears won in 7.11 sec.

The 17-year-old American Quincy Wilson improved his own all-time world indoor 400m best for under-18s after winning in 45.66 sec.
