
Julien Alfred will competed in 300m at Brighton, Massachusetts
Paris 2024 Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred will return to competition in Brighton, Massachusetts, on February 2. This time, however, she will not be competing in one of her signature sprint events, but will instead be competing in the longer 300m.
In the event, she will face her training partner Dina Asher-Smith and American athlete Lynna Irby-Jackson.
Julien Alfred last competed in the 300m in 2022, when she ran a personal best of 37.36 sec. Now, the sprinter from Saint Lucia will be looking to break her personal best in the event.
Julien Alfred achieved a remarkable feat by securing the gold medal in the 100m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she established a new national record of 10.72 seconds during the final. This victory marked the inaugural Olympic medal for Saint Lucia. Additionally, she earned a silver medal in the 200m event. At the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships, Julien Alfred also claimed the gold medal in the 60m.
Previously, she was a silver medalist in the 100m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Furthermore, she holds the joint North American indoor record for the 60m and made history as the first woman in NCAA competition to surpass the seven-second mark in the 60m event. She is a three-time individual champion in NCAA Division I.
