Julien Alfred won the Stockholm Diamond League’s women’s 100m gold with a new meeting record
Olympic 100m champion from Paris 2024 Games, Julien Alfred, continues to show excellent form. A few days after her victory at the Diamond League in Oslo, she achieved another success in Stockholm. The great star of Saint Lucia won the women’s 100m event with a personal best of 10.75 sec (+0.9 m/s). With this result, she improved the meeting record of 10.90 sec, set by the Russian athlete Irina Privalova in 1994.
Dina Asher-Smith finished second with 10.93 sec, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith came in third with 11.00 sec. A few days ago in Oslo, the two finished in reverse order.
Maia McCoy (Liberia) and Daryll Neita (Great Britain), completed the Top 5 in women’s 100m.
“After Oslo I had a long talk with my coach and he talked me through everything about today’s race. He assured me that I was in great shape because I was doubting myself. But today I’m happy with how the race went. The turnaround was short, but it’s nothing new for me, I’ve done it before. I’ll go back to Austin to train before the qualifiers”, said Julien Alfred after the sprint.
Cuban sprinter Reynier Mena achieved another 200m victory in men’s event after winning with 20.05 sec (+2.0 m/s). American Joseph Fahnbulleh finished second with 20.32 sec, while his compatriot Kyree King completed the top three with 20.49 sec.
