
Katie Moon won the Diamond League trophy in women’s pole vault
The Olympics and world pole vault champion Katie Moon (USA) won the women’s Diamond League Final in the event. Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion and two-time world champion Katie Moon triumphed in the final event of the season at the Weltklasse Zurich, clearing 4.82m. This gave the 34-year-old American her fourth victory of the campaign and secured the top spot in the final standings of the discipline for the second time in her career since 2023.
Rio 2016 Olympic runner-up Sandi Morris (USA) finished second in Zurich with a jump of 4.75m. Sandi Morris, 33, a two-time world indoor champion, also remained second in the overall standings for the Diamond League season, after recording two wins and two second places this year.
Emily Grove solidified American dominance today, coming in third with an equal personal best of 4.75m, but on her third attempt.
The Top 5 were completed by Angelica Moser (Switzerland) and Tina Sutej (Slovenia), who missed the honors, clearing 4.65m both.
Katie Moon earned the gold medals at the Tokyo 2020Olympics, as well as at the World Athletics Championships in 2022 and 2023 (the latter shared with Australian athlete Nina Kennedy). Additionally, she secured silver medals at the 2022 World Indoor Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympics. Katie Moon also earned a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games.
