Keely Hodgkinson, Femke Bol and Molly Caudery confirmed participation at London Diamond League
World champions Keely Hodgkinson, Femke Bol and Molly Caudery have all confirmed their participation in the Diamond League in London on July 19.
British runner Keely Hodgkinson made history in the 800m at the 2024 event with a race record and national record of 1:54.61 min, which moved her up to sixth in the all-time rankings. It was the perfect preparation for Paris, where she won Olympic gold, adding to her collection that also includes Olympic silver and two world silver medals.
“It was a dream come true to compete in the Olympic Stadium and I’m really excited to get back there and see what I can do. This run really prepared me for what I did in Paris. I’m now an Olympic champion, which is pretty incredible to say out loud, but I haven’t won a world gold yet, so I have really big goals this summer. The support of the crowd in London plus a group of super-fast athletes will be the best possible preparation as I prepare for the World Championships in Tokyo”, said Keely Hodgkinson.
Dutch athletics star Femke Bol returns to compete in the 400m hurdles at the stadium, where she set a Diamond League record of 51.30 sec last year, improving her own time of 51.45 sec set at the same track 12 months earlier.
Femke Bol also set a European record of 50.95 sec in Switzerland last summer, improving her personal best by half a second. She won gold in the 4x400m medley relay, silver in the women’s 4x400m relay and bronze in the 400m hurdles at the Paris Olympics.
In September, she was crowned Diamond League champion for the fourth year in a row.
“My first run in London in 2023 was a dream come true, and to be even faster in 2024 was incredible. There’s something so special about competing in this stadium”, said Femke Bol.
British pole vaulter Molly Caudery, the 2024 world indoor champion, started her season with a victory, jumping 4.75m at the Diamond League in Doha. She hopes to build on that in front of a home crowd.
“Competing in London again this summer is a huge motivation for me”, said Molly Caudery.
They will be joined in London by Morgan Lake, the British high jump record holder.
Keely Hodgkinson has also been confirmed for the Diamond League event in Stockholm on June 15, where she will face compatriots Jemma Reekie and Georgia Bell, while Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will also compete in the men’s event in Stockholm.
