
Kenny Bednarek won 100m gold at the Grand Slam Track Kingston
American runner Kenny Bednarek won the men’s 100m gold at the Grand Slam Track in Kingston, Jamaica, clocking at 10.07 sec, 0.01 sec ahead of Oblique Seville (Jamaica). The American sprinter triumphed in a fierce competition against some of the top sprinters in the world.
Zharnel Hughes (Great Britain) remained third, ahead of Ackeem Blake (Jamaica) in a photo finish.
Kenneth Bednarek specializes in the 200m, having won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, 2022 World Championships, and at the Paris 2024 Olympics, but at the absence of Noah Lyles (USA) tried in the most popular and prestigious events in the sport of athletics.
Christopher Bailey of the United States won the men’s 400m with a time of 44.34 sec, ahead of Matthew Hudson-Smith (Great Britain). Vernon Norwood made a double podium for the United States with a time of 44.70 sec.
In the men’s 400m hurdles, Alison dos Santos (Brazil) triumphed in 47.61 sec, followed by Roshawn Clarke (Jamaica) in 48.20 sec and the Caleb Dean (USA) in 48.58 sec.
The tournament is led by four-time Olympic champion Michael Johnson, who has described the Grand Slam Track as the “Formula 1 of athletics”. The total prize money is 12.6 million USD and will be distributed after the events in Miami, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
