Kibiwott Kandie attacks world record at the Valencia Marathon
Athletics News . Marathon News Article
The former marathon world record holder Kibiwott Kandie has set his sights on breaking Kelvin Kiptum’s world record in Valencia. Kibiwott Kandie believes the late Kelvin Kiptum’s 2:00:35 hours from Chicago 2023 can be bettered. He himself is not even in the top 10 of the all-time marathon rankings.
Kibiwott Kandie’s personal best is 2:06:46 hours. He achieved that result at the Berlin Marathon in 2024, when he finished 13th.
“I want to break the world record in the Valencia Marathon, which is the final major race of the year. Breaking the world record means I have to commit to more mileage and training harder”, said Kibiwott Kandie in an interview.
This year’s Valencia Marathon will be held on December 7.
