Paris 2024 Olympic 100m silver medalist Kishane Thompson won his indoor debut. The Jamaican athlete won the 60m at the World Athletics Tour Indoor Gold Label event in Astana in 6.56 sec. In the heats, the 23-year-old Thompson clocked 6.58 sec. Ali Anwar Al-Balushi (Oman) took second place in the men’s 60m final with 6.60 sec, while Shuhei Tada (Japan) came in third with 6.62 sec.

In the women’s shot put, two-time world champion Chase Jackson achieved success with a world-best result of the season of 19.13m. The silver went to Fanny Roos (Sweden) and the bronze was for Eliana Bandeira (Portugal).

In the women’s triple jump at the Astana meeting, Neja Filipic (Slovenia) earned the gold with 14.05m, while Sharifa Davronova (Uzbekistan) won the silver with 13.90m and the bronze was for Jessie Maduka (Germany) with 13.67m.

In the women’s high jump, Nagisa Takanashi (Japan) triumphed with the gold, clearing 1.88m. The silver was for Solene Gicquel (France) and Yelizaveta Matveyeva (Kazakhstan) was third.
