
Oblique Seville won the 100m title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo
Oblique Seville (Jamaica) is the new world champion in the 100m sprint at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He finished the distance in a personal best of 9.77 sec.
Oblique Seville had a worse start, but overtook his compatriot Kishane Thompson, who led for most of the race but lost at the end. Kishane Thompson, who is also the Paris 2024 Olympics silver medalist, finished in 9.82 sec and grabbed the silver.
The Olympics champion Noah Lyles of the United States came in third with 9.89 sec.
Kenny Bednarek (USA) and Gift Leotlela (South Africa) completed the Top 5, both finishing under 10 sec – 9.92 sec and 9.95 sec, respectively.
Oblique Seville has one World’s bronze medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in 4x100m relay. Individually he finished fourth in the men’s 100m at the 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships.
