Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem won the javelin throw gold at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships
Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem (Pakistan) won the gold medal in the javelin throw at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea. The event was marked by the absence of Indian star Neeraj Chopra.
Arshad Nadeem, who stunned the athletics world with his historic throw of 92.97m at the Paris 2024 Olympics, once again showed his class with a best of 86.40m to clinch first place in his first event of the season. His successful throw came on his third attempt.
Arshad Nadeem’s coach Salman Butt praised the athlete’s performance and highlighted the event’s busy schedule.
“It was a good performance, especially since it was his first event of the season. If he had had a day’s rest between the qualifiers and the finals, he would have recovered better and achieved a better result. But this is a good start”, said Salman Butt after the competition.
the javelin throw silver at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea went to Sachin Yadav (India) with 85.16m and the bronze was for Yuta Sakiyama (Japan) with 83.75m.
India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has pulled out of the continental championships to focus on his Diamond League commitments. Neeraj Chopra recently competed in both the Diamond League and the Janusz Kusoczynski Memorial, finishing second in both events. His season highlight remains the Diamond League event in Doha, where he broke the 90m mark with a throw of 90.23m.
