
Saga Vanninen won the pentathlon gold in Tallinn with season best and national record
World silver medalist in the pentathlon Saga Vanninen won the pentathlon in Tallinn with a new Finnish record of 4,843 points, the best result in the world this season. The result moved Saga Vanninen to 16th place in the world rankings all-time.
Personal bests of 6.48m in the long jump and 2:11.70 min in the 800m added nearly 200 points to her pentathlon personal best of 4,677 points.
The other two in the Top 3 of the women’s pentathlon event of the Tallinn 2025 Meeting also broke their national records. Kate O’Connor finished second with 4,683 points to set a new Irish record, while world under-20 champion Jana Koscak scored 4,478 points to break her own Croatian record.
Saga Vanninen won gold medals in the heptathlon at the 2021 and 2022 World Under-20 Championships, and at the 2021 European U20 Championships. She also won one European U23 and one European U20 title, as well as one Finnish national title.
