Saga Vanninen won the pentathlon title at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing

European pentathlon champion Saga Vanninen also won the world title at the Nanjing Championships. The two-time world champion in the women’s heptathlon collected 4,821 points for the gold medal in the pentathlon in China. The Finish athlete recorded 8.30 sec in the 60m hurdles, 1.81m in the high jump, 15.81m in the shot put, 6.37m in the long jump and 2:15.28 min in the 800m.

Saga Vanninen was the silver medalist at the World Championships in Glasgow last year.

Ireland’s record holder and bronze medalist at the European Championships in Apeldoorn, Kate O’Connor, reached the silver medal this time. She collected 4,742 points (8.30 sec in the 60m hurdles, 1.81m in the high jump, 14.64m in the shot put, 6.32m in the long jump and 2:14.19 min in the 800m).

American Taliyah Brooks achieved a personal best of 4669 points for the bronze medal. In the individual disciplines, she recorded 8.09 sec in the 60m hurdles, 1.78m in the high jump, 14.39m in the shot put, 6.35m in the long jump and 2:19.67 min in the 800m.
