
Salwa Eid Naser has made a strong start to the summer season at the Felix Sanchez Classic 2025
Paris 2024 Olympic 400m silver medalist Salwa Eid Naser has made a strong start to the summer season. The defending Bahraini athlete won the 400m at the Felix Sanchez Classic in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, clocking at 48.94 sec. Local star and Olympic champion in the event, Marileidy Paulino, did not compete in the tournament.
This is the Bahraini’s athlete second consecutive victory in the event.
Marileidy Paulino and Salwa Eid Naser could meet again next week at the first Grand Slam Track, hosted by Michael Johnson. The first race of the series will be held in Kingston, Jamaica.
At the 400m event of the Felix Sanchez Classic meeting, the silver went to Roxana Gomez (Cuba), who clocked at 50.77 sec and the bronze was for Anabel Medina Ventura (Dominican Republic) finishing in 52.05 sec.
Salwa Eid Naser won also the gold in women’s 200m event, clocking at 22.45 sec. The silver went to Liranyi Alonso (Dominican Republic) and the bronze was for Vitoria Cristina Rose (Brazil), finishing in 23.05 sec and 23.30 sec, respectively.
In men’s 400m, the Dominican athletes won the gold and silver – Erick Sanchez and Robert King, respectively, while the bronze was for Luis Aviles (Mexico).
