
Salwa Eid Naser won the 400m Diamond Trophy with a new meeting record
World 400m champion Salwa Eid Naser won the 2025 Women’s Diamond Trophy after running the fastest time in the final of the circuit in Zurich. The Bahraini athlete won with a new meeting record of 48.70 sec. She smashed the tournament record of 48.86 sec, which had been held by world record holder Jarmila Kratochvílova since 1982.
Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino came in second in 49.23 sec, while Norwegian star Henriette Jaeger took third place in the women’s race with a new Norwegian national record of 49.49 sec. A total of six athletes broke 50 seconds in the final.
The Top 5 were completed by Martina Weil (Chile) and Amber Anning (Great Britain), who narrowly missed the podium.
American track and field athlete Jacory Patterson won the men’s 400m Diamond Trophy after recording a convincing victory with a personal best of 43.85 sec. Bayapo Ndori (Botswana) finished second and another American Vernon Norwood grabbed the bronze.
The Top 5 were completed by Muzala Samukonga (Zambia) and Christopher Bailey (USA).
