
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will compete in the 400m at Prefontaine Classic in Eugene
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will compete in the 400m at the Eugene Diamond League’s Prefontaine Classic on July 5. The world record holder in the 400m hurdles will compete in her third 400-meter race of the Diamond League season in Eugene. She ran a time of 49.69 sec in Miami in May and has a personal best in the 400m of 48.74 sec, set in Eugene in 2023.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone also set four of her six world records in the 400m hurdles in Eugene.
“I am excited to compete in this year’s Prefontaine Classic, which holds a special place in the heart of track and field”, said Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. “I am looking forward to competing against an incredible group of athletes and I can’t wait to see everyone in Eugene”, added she.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is two-time Olympics champion in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, as well as World champion in 2022.
The women’s 400m is not a Diamond League event in Eugene this year. Diamond events feature with Faith Kipyegon in the women’s 1500m, Letsile Tebogo and Kenny Bednarek in the 200m, Sha’Carri Richardson in the women’s 100m, and Ryan Crouser in the men’s shot put.
