Olympic long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall has ended her track and field season after a car accident that prevented her from training for the World Championships starting this week. The 27-year-old American suffered a concussion in the crash.
“My team and I have thought about this very seriously and have decided that I will be out of competition for the rest of this season. It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, but most of all it hurts. But I know this is part of my journey. There is a reason for everything and I know I will be back”, said Tara Davis-Woodhall after the accident.
The World Athletics Ultimate Championships, the new season-ending tournament of the World Athletics, will be held from September 11 to 13 in Budapest.
