
The nominees for the men’s European Athlete of the Year
European Athletics has announced the ten nominees for the men’s Continent’s No. 1 award. The voting will take into account the votes of four separate panels – European Athletics experts, members of the European Athletics Association, the media vote and the public vote, with each of these votes determining 25% of the overall score for each athlete. The winner will be announced at a special Gala evening in Lausanne on October 24.
And here are the ten contenders for the European Athlete of the year award:
– Andy Diaz Hernandez (Italy) – European outdoor champion in the triple jump, world indoor champion, winner of the 2026 Diamond Trophy and fourth in the all-time ranking of the discipline with 18.15m.
– Kristjan Ceh (Slovenia) – European discus throw champion, winner of the Diamond Trophy in the discipline and champion of the Mediterranean Games.
– Armand Duplantis (Sweden) – European outdoor and world indoor champion in the pole vault, winner of the Ultimate championship, world record holder with 6.31m.
– Simon Ehammer (Switzerland) – World champion and world record holder in the heptathlon with 6670 points, European silver medalist in the long jump, leader in the world ranking in the decathlon for the season with 8778 points.
– Bence Halasz (Hungary) – European hammer throw champion, season world leader with 84.25m.
– Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) – European 5,000m champion and Ultimate champion in the same discipline.
– Massimo Stano (Italy) – European marathon race walk champion and European record holder in the discipline with 2:56.49 hours.
– Gianmarco Tamberi (Italy) – European high jump champion, Ultimate champion and season world leader with 2.37m.
– Miltiadis Tentoglou (Greece) – European long jump champion, Ultimate champion and season world leader with 8.66m.
– Karsten Warholm (Norway) – European 400m hurdles champion and with Norway’s 4x400m mixed relay team.
