Yaroslava Mahuchikh will compete at the special high jump tournament in Banska Bystrica

World record holder in the high jump and European Athlete of the Year for 2024, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, has confirmed her participation in the special high jump tournament in Banska Bystrica on February 18, 2025. The Ukrainian athlete will use this competition as part of her preparation for the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn (March 6-9) and the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing (March 21-23).

Yaroslava Mahuchikh has been a regular participant in Banska Bystrica in recent years. She has won the event three times and it was at this tournament that she set her indoor personal best of 2.06m, which is also the tournament record from 2021. If she achieves another victory in Banska Bystrica, Yaroslava Mahuchikh will equal Croatia’s Blanka Vlasic, who has triumphed at this tournament four times in her career.

“I am happy to return to Banska Bystrica. This will be one of my few starts during the winter season. In the winter, my goal is to win at the European Indoor Championships and the World Indoor Championships. I am looking forward to my participation in Banska Bystrica and the great support of the audience”, said Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

In Banska Bystrica, the Ukrainian’s main rival will be the Serbian record holder and world U20 champion Angelina Topic, who also has two medals from the European Women’s Championships. Last year, she won the competition with 1.97m.
