Zoe Hobbs won the 100m gold at the XXIII Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a new Oceania Record

Zoe Hobbs won the 100m gold at the XXIII Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a remarkable performance and new Oceania Record. The athlete clocked 10.93 sec to be the first ever New Zealander to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the blue-riband sprint event.

“All the emotions. Still letting it sink in”, wrote Zoe Hobbs in her social media account. “Thank you for all of the support. Feeling so much love from back home”, adds the statement.

Zoe Hobbs edged Amy Hunt (Great Britain) and Torrie Lewis (Australia), who also made fantastic performances, but lagged behind the winner with 0.5 and 0.6 sec, respectively.

Imani-Lara Lansiquot finished fourth, while Jodean Williams completed the Top 5, but missed the podium.

Zoe Hobbs is a three-time Oceania champion in 100m, but also finished 4th at the Glasgow World Indoor Championships in 2024 in 60m. She is the national and Oceania record holder in 100m and 60m.
