European long jump champion Bozhidar Saraboyukov misses the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships

Athletics News . Long Jump News Article

The European champion in the long jump Bozhidar Saraboyukov will miss the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, which begin in a few days. The news was announced by the athlete’s coach Dimitar Karamfilov.

Bozhidar Saraboyukov has influenza B and has had a high fever for six days, which he only managed to bring down today. He will remain in Bulgaria and will not fly to China.

Bozhidar Saraboyukov secured the long jump championship at the European Athletics Indoor Championships held in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The 20-year-old athlete from Bulgaria achieved victory with a jump of 8.13 meters on his last attempt, surpassing the pre-event favorite, Italy’s Mattia Furlani, by a mere one centimeter, while Spain’s Lester Lescay took home the bronze medal.

Thus, Bulgaria will be represented in Nanjing by two athletes – Plamena Mitkova in the long jump and Nikola Karamanolov in the 60m. Gabriela Petrova also had the opportunity to participate according to the ranking system, but decided to skip the championship.
