
Israeli athlete Romi Tamir
Romi Tamir is Israeli track and field athlete, who specialized in the long and triple jump. She is five time national champion.
Romi Tamir was born on July 3, 2003. She started in athletics as a kid and showed great skills for growing in the long jump event. Thus, her coach focused her development in the event, where she quickly proved to be one of the biggest talents in the country.
Romi Tamir started her competitive career in 2019 at the International U20 Match in Pitesti, Romania. She competed in the long jump and with result of 5.24m finished 5th.
In 2020, Romi Tamir won the titles at the Tel Aviv Israeli U20/U18 Championships in the both events – long jump and the triple jump. Following these results, she made her debut at the senior Tel Aviv Israeli Championships, winning the silver in the triple jump with 12.22m and the bronze in the long jump with 5.65m. By the end of the season, she competed in some local meetings, succeeded to improve her long jump personal best to 5.74m.
Romi Tamir started the 2021 season by improving again her long jump top result at the Test Meeting in Tel Aviv to 5.70m, winning the silver. At the Tel Aviv Israeli Championships, she won her first national title in the long jump with another fantastic result of 5.94m, which improved again her personal best. Meanwhile, she won the long jump silver at the Hapoel Championships. In the triple jump, she earned the silver at the Tel Aviv Israeli Championships and the Triple Jump Meeting in Neurim, where she set a personal best in the event of 12.49m.
In 2022, Romi Tamir won the bronze medals at the Jerusalem Israeli Championships in both events – long jump and triple jump. Meanwhile, in the long jump, she won the gold at the Hapoel Championships, the silver at the Tel Aviv Israeli U20 Championships, and the bronze at the Maccabiah Games in Jerusalem, but also finished 14th at the Beograd Balkan U20 Indoor Championships. In the triple jump, Romi Tamir earned the gold at the Tel Aviv Maccabi Idelson Cup and Tel Aviv Israeli U20 Championships, the silver at the Last Chance Competition in Tel Aviv, and the bronze at the IAA Cup in Tel Aviv, but also finished 4th at the ROU-ISR-UKR-CYP U20 Match in Limassol.
Romi Tamir continue gaining experience in 2023, debuting at the strong international championships. She earned the long jump silver at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships Third Division, but also finished 4th in the triple jump. Romi Tamir competed in the triple jump at the Espoo European Athletics U23 Championships, but failed to overcome the qualifications. At the Jerusalem Israeli Championships, she won the titles in the triple jump and the long jump, setting a personal best of 13.03m and 6.24m, respectively. Meanwhile, during the season, she won the triple jump silver at the Vaxjo Quality Hotel Games, long jump silver at the Tel Aviv Israeli Winter Championships, and also grabbed the gold medals at the Maccabi Idelson Cup and Hapoel Championships in Tel Aviv in the both events – long jump and triple jump.
In 2024, Romi Tamir won two more national titles at the Tel Aviv Israeli Championships in the triple jump and the long jump. Meanwhile, she triumphed at the Israeli League Cup again in both events, and competed at the GRAND SLAM – Jerusalem in the triple jump, but finished 9th. During the season, she improved her personal best in both events – 6.30m in the long jump and 13.09m in the triple jump.
