
Italian sprinter Dalia Kaddari
Dalia Kaddari is an accomplished Italian sprinter specializing in the 100m and 200m. She secured a gold medal at the 2021 European U23 Championships, a silver at the 2021 European Team Championships, and a bronze at the 2023 European Championships. She is also four-time national champion in this event. At just 17 years old, Dalia Kaddari earned a silver medal in the 200m at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. She also represented her country at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics in the same distance.
Born on March 23, 2001, in Cagliari, Sardinia, Dalia Kaddari is the daughter of an Italian mother and a father from Morocco. Throughout her development as an athlete, she consistently broke Italian records in her primary event, the 200m. At the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, she achieved a national Under-18 record with a time of 23.45 sec, earning her a silver medal. Between 2019 and 2020, she established national indoor Under-20 records, eventually improving it to 23.85 sec.
In August 2020, while still competing as a junior, Dalia Kaddari claimed a gold medal at the Padova Italian Championships with a personal best of 23.30 sec. The following month, she set a new Italian Under-20 record at the Gala dei Castelli in Bellinzona, Switzerland, clocking 23.23 sec and earned the bronze. Meanwhile, during the season she won the 200m gold at the Grosseto Italian U20 Championships, Trofeo Citta’ di Rieti, Ancona Italian U20 Indoor Championships, as well as the 60m gold at the International U20 Match in Minsk, Belarus.
In 2021, Dalia Kaddari finished second at the European Team Championships held in Chorzow, Poland. She also won the bronze at the prestigious 10° Meeting International Citta di Savona and earned her second national title at the Rovereto Italian Championships. Her biggest achievement during the season was the 200m silver at the Tallinn European Athletics U23 Championships. She competed also at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but did not overcome the semi-finals, although clocking 23.26 sec, very close to her personal best.
Dalia Kaddari continue to preform at top level in 2022. She started the outdoor season by winning the 200m bronze at the 11° Meeting International Citta’ Di Savona and a few days later won the 4x100m relay gold at the Castiglione International Meeting in Grosseto. She made her Diamond League debut in 200m at Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Roma, finishing 8th. She also competed at Diamond League’s Oslo Bislett Games and finished 5th. In June, Dalia Kaddari won her third national title, triumphing at the Rieti Italian Championships. AT the Eugene World Athletics Championships, she competed in 4x100m relay, finishing 8th in the final, and 200m, where did not overcome the semis. At the Munich European Athletics Championships, Dalia Kaddari and the Italian relay team won the 4x100m bronze, while individually in 200m she finished 7th in the final.
In 2023, Dalia Kaddari started strongly by winning 200m gold at the 12th International Meeting “Citta’ Di Savona” and finished 4th at the prestigious 5th Irena Szewińska Memorial in Bydgoszcz, Poland. At the Espoo European Athletics U23 Championships, she finished 5th in 200m. During the season she grabbed her fourth national title at the Molfetta Italian Championships. Dalia Kaddari was very close to win a honor at the Budapest World Athletics Championships, but the Italian 4x100m relay finished 4th in the final, while she failed to reach the finals individually. She ended the season by winning the 200m bronze at the Gala dei Castelli in Bellinzona.
Dalia Kaddari was part of the Italian 4x100m relay team for the World Athletics Relays in Nassau, but narrowly missed the honor and finished 4th. She finished 7th in 200m at the Rabat Diamond League, before competing at the Roma European Athletics Championships and Paris 2024 Olympics, where did not reached the finals neither in 200m nor in 4x100m relay. She ended the season by competing at the Roma Diamond League, finishing 9th in 200m.
