Armand Duplantis will miss the entire 2027 indoor season to focus on his recovery
Multiple world record holder in the pole vault Armand Duplantis will miss the entire 2027 indoor season to focus on his recovery and preparation for the outdoor season, the Swedish Athletics Federation announced.
The 26-year-old Armand Duplantis has opted to take more time off than usual after a grueling season.
The world and Olympic champion complained of foot problems at the end of the campaign, which caused him to miss the Diamond League final in Brussels. He did return for the record-breaking Ultimate tournament in Budapest, where he cleared 6.20 meters. It was enough for the victory, but not for a new world record, which could have brought him an additional bonus.
“I have decided to give my body extra time to recover so that I can be in top form again during competitions. My focus is to do a good preparation and be ready for the outdoor season in 2027”, said Mondo Duplantis for the Swedish federation’s website.
Armand Duplantis, a two-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion in the pole vault, made his latest world record improvement in March this year. In Munich, he cleared 6.31 meters.
