
Australian athlete Alanah Yukich
Alanah Yukich is an athlete from Australia who participates in the 400m hurdles. She is the 2025 World Athletics Relays silver medalist in 4x400m mixed relay, as well as the national champion in the same event.
Alanah Yukich was born on January 27, 1998. She was raised on a farm in Gingin, a small town located 78.3 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia. She relocated to the United States to pursue her studies as a student-athlete at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), from which she graduated in 2023. Following her graduation, she continued to reside and train in Texas under the guidance of her coach, Rose Monday. Alanah has Croatian ancestry.
Alanah Yukich took part in the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships, competing in both the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay.
In the 2022 Conference USA outdoor track meet, she secured victory in the 400m hurdles event.
In April 2024, she was chosen to be a member of the Australian team for the 2024 World Athletics Relays, which will be held in Nassau, Bahamas.
In June 2024, she achieved a personal best of 55.15 sec in the 400m hurdles while striving for Olympic qualification, competing across five different countries within a span of sixteen days. She participated in the 400 metres hurdles at the 2024 Summer Olympics held in Paris in August 2024, where she advanced to the semi-finals.
On 13 April 2025, she secured the runner-up position in the 400m hurdles at the Australian Athletics Championships in Perth, clocking a time of 55.29 sec. She was part of the Australian team in the Mixed 4x400m relay at the 2025 World Athletics Relays, which established a new Oceania record of 3:12.34, improving the previous best mark set in 2021 by nearly five sec. This achievement made them the first Mixed team in Australian history to qualify for a major championship, securing qualification on the first day of the competition for the 2025 World Championships. Australia ultimately earned the silver medal in the final of this event. On the second day of the competition, she also participated in the Women’s 4x400m relay, contributing to that team’s qualification for the World Championships.
She recorded a personal best of 55.04 sec in the 400m hurdles, finishing second to Tia-Adana Belle at the Ed Murphey Track Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet, on 12 July in Memphis, Tennessee. She competed at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, where she ran a time of 56.68 sec but did not qualify for the semi-finals.
